All shareholders, including Akima Interns, are invited to participate in the Career Progression program. This program pairs shareholders with mentors who are well-established in the fields and industries that interest each shareholder. These mentors help the shareholders stay on track to achieve their career goals throughout college or trade school and in their first “real” jobs, and can provide a sounding board resource for career development plans or ideas.
Our Technical Development Program serves as a pipeline for the next generation of Akima employees in cutting edge industries. This program offers participants a short term entry-level position that runs concurrently with a trade or tech training certification program. Shareholders in this program gain hands-on experience that complements their formal training. Upon completion of the program, graduates have first-choice of any open, full-time positions within their chosen trade at Akima. This co-op work and school opportunity has placed graduates in positions working on aircraft maintenance, construction, and IT services.
