Akima Awarded Support Contract at Fort Gordon
Akima Facilities Management, LLC, (Akima) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide installation support services for Fort Gordon, Augusta, Georgia. A small city unto itself, Akima assumes responsibility for public works, facilities operations and maintenance, and supply functions to support over 17,000 army personnel on this 56,000-acre facility.
Home to US Army’s Signal Center and School and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon maintains the largest communications – electronics facility in the free world and provide joint forces training and support to over 70,000 military and civilian personnel annually.
Akima will also provide support for logistics functional areas, mobilization-related missions, deployment and contingency planning services, resource management services, transportation and motor pool services, and equipment repair services.
Akima, teamed with IAP World Services, Inc., won the competitive small business award as a result of the company’s impressive performance on similar contracts.
