Group President

Technology Solutions & Products Group

Juvy McCarthy is the group president of Technology Solutions & Products Group. She has been with the Akima family of companies for 15 years.

Fifteen years ago, Juvy McCarthy walked into her new role with the Akima family of companies as vice president of solutions and services at TKC Integration Services (now known as Affigent, LLC). Today, she is responsible for the success of that company—as well as 11 others—as the group president of Akima’s Technology Solutions & Products Group.

Raised in the Philippines, Juvy immigrated to the United States shortly after graduating college. Since her move and throughout her career, she has consistently acted with boldness and decisiveness. She has been a high performing individual contributor, owned her own business, embarked on the journey of motherhood, and, in 2008, took over as the general manager of TKC Global, a technology-focused company within the Akima portfolio. The company had been struggling prior to her arrival, but within two years of Juvy’s leadership, TKC Global experienced unprecedented growth—for example in both 2012 and 2013, Washington Technology ranked TKC Global in the top 25 largest 8(a) contractors selling IT, telecommunications and professional services to the federal market. Her success with TKC Global afforded her the opportunity to transform another of Akima’s technology-focused subsidiaries, Qivliq Federal Group (QFG). Juvy’s quick assessment and redirection turned QFG around in just two years, turning the once floundering company into a profitable asset for Akima. Shortly thereafter, in 2013, Juvy was named president of the group.

One of Juvy’s greatest strengths is her ability to build competencies across her business, marrying technology with service delivery to drive success. When she first began at Akima, she focused on building relationships with OEMs such as Microsoft and Oracle that had strong existing footprints within government. From there, she built out complementary service capabilities that are agile and flexible in areas that customers needed most such as enterprise IT, cybersecurity, network operations, and application development. Thanks to this systematic convergence of technology and service delivery, her group has delivered some of the government’s most innovative projects: the largest migration of more than 800,000 user accounts worldwide into a single, integrated global network for the Air Force; and developing an award-winning Virtual Enterprise Service Desk platform through a proven process known as Akima ACE™.

Most recently, Federal Computer Week recognized Juvy as a 2019 Federal 100 winner. This prestigious honor is awarded to select individuals each year for their contributions in the federal IT space. With compassion and competitive drive, Juvy creates value and innovation in support of the federal government every single day.

In addition to Juvy’s accomplishments, she remains a tireless supporter of women in technology. She has a knack for identifying talented women in the field and mentoring them—whether they are part of her team or not. As a mentor to dozens of women, she leads by example, demonstrating strength, wit, and most importantly, technical expertise and determination in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Within minutes of meeting with Juvy, it is easy to see how much of an impact she has made—and will continue to make—to others in her field. She is dynamic, savvy, and gracious. Most importantly, she is the biggest champion for her fellow women in technology.
