Barbara Doherty

Barbara Doherty is the vice president of contracts and procurement, overseeing all of Akima’s corporate contracts, subcontracts, and purchasing operations.

 

Prior to joining Akima, Barbara served as corporate vice president of contracts for Pacific Architects and Engineers (PAE) where she was responsible for contracts corporate-wide as well as the day-to-day management of the National Security Solutions business unit. While at PAE, she also led the Global Supply Chain operation for PAE, responsible for $1B in subcontracts and procurement. Before PAE, she led contracts and procurement organizations at U.S. Investigation Services and Chenega Corporation. Barbara brings over 30 years of professional government contracts experience to Akima.

 

Barbara began her career as a senior contracting officer for the U.S. federal government where she gained her acquisition insight and expertise. She earned a bachelor’s of business administration in international business, economics, and management from James Madison University as well as a master’s certificate in contracting and master’s of science in program management from The George Washington University. Barbara holds her Certified Professional Contract Management certification from the National Contracts Management Association (NCMA) and is a frequent trainer for contracts management principles on behalf of NCMA.
