U.S. Army
Akima has supported several dozen construction, renovation, revitalization, alteration, and repair projects at Aberdeen Proving Ground—a 72,000-acre U.S. Army complex that is home to the world’s leaders in research, development, testing, and evaluation of material. Projects range from demolishing entire floors and constructing new collaboration spaces, to providing labor, material, and equipment to ensure structural integrity of boat landings, piers, platforms, access ladders, piping systems, and more.

We provided design-build services to replace an outdated Vehicle Access Control Point (VACP) with a state-of-the-art access control point facility that not only met all the new anti-terrorist standards, but also dramatically decreased per vehicle inspection time. This was achieved by implementing a computerized under vehicle inspection and license plate reader system integrated with the reservation-wide database

U.S. Navy > Naval Facilities Engineering Command – Public Works Department
Our team served as the prime contractor for the renovation of 125 dormitory rooms at the Drug Enforcement Administration Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Renovation of the two-person units consisted of demolition and replacement of existing restroom facilities, vanity/dressing areas, and installation of new paint and carpet in the bedroom and corridor areas.
