Akima Subsidiary Awarded $40 Million Aircrew Training Contract by the U.S. Air Force

Academic and simulator instruction provided by RiverTech will help enhance operational effectiveness and combat-readiness of the United States Air Forces Europe and Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA)

Herndon, VA — Akima today announced that its subsidiary, RiverTech, has been awarded the Aircrew Training; Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC); Academic; and Simulator (ATLAS) contract by the U.S. Air Force to provide flight training services to the U.S. Air Forces Europe and Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA). The total value of the contract is $40 million over five years if all options are exercised.

“Ensuring that today’s airmen have the requisite skills and knowledge needed to fly, fight, and win is critically important,” said Scott Rauer, President of Akima’s Facilities Solutions Group. “We are proud to deliver tactical, academic, and simulator instruction on mission sets and weapons employment so that USAFE-AFAFRICA personnel and resources can remain mission focused.”

The contract was awarded under the OASIS Small Business (SB) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. RiverTech will provide academic training including, but not limited to, Cockpit/Crew Resource Management (CRM), Instrument Refresher Course (IRC), Theater Indoctrination (TI), Local Area Orientation (LAO), Mission Qualification (MQT) and Flight Lead (FL) academics and simulator training. Additionally, RiverTech will provide simulator support in Full Mission Trainers, and in conjunction with LVC and Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) in support of USAFE aircrew training.

Training services will be delivered at Aviano Air Base (AB), Italy; Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom; and Spangdahlem AB, Germany.
