Marcus Lopez

Marcus Lopez is the chief operating officer for Akima, overseeing enterprise operations, execution, and growth across the Akima portfolio of companies. A seasoned technology and operations executive, Marcus brings more than 30 years of experience leading complex commercial and government organizations, with a strong track record of scaling businesses, integrating acquisitions, and driving sustained growth.

Prior to joining Akima, Marcus held senior executive leadership roles at Belcan, a Cognizant company, where he served as president and chief growth officer, leading aerospace and defense, government, and commercial growth strategies. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership positions at ManTech International and Gryphon Technologies, where he led advanced research, digital engineering, and systems integration portfolios, consistently delivering double-digit growth and strong operational performance.

Marcus also served in senior government and military leadership roles, including Deputy Director at the Office of Naval Research, Commanding Officer of a Navy strike/fighter squadron, and Division Director at the National Reconnaissance Office where he led large operational teams and mission-critical programs supporting national defense.

Marcus holds a Master of Science in Management from Troy University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Academy.
