HERNDON, Va. – Akima, a leading provider of mission-focused solutions to the federal government, is pleased to announce that four subsidiaries, Cloud Lake Technology, Systems Intelligence, RiverTech, and Akima Logistics Services, have been awarded contracts on the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, which has a ceiling of $151 billion.
SHIELD provides MDA and other DoD organizations with a flexible vehicle to rapidly compete and deliver advanced capabilities. The contract covers a wide range of work areas that support the accelerated development and fielding of mission-critical technologies.
Akima companies will apply artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital engineering, open systems architectures, model-based systems engineering, and agile processes to support the acquisition, development, and sustainment of these capabilities. This work strengthens the nation’s integrated missile defense architecture and ensures warfighters receive the technologies they need at speed.
