Sunik selected by Naval Facilities Engineering Command to provide a range of facility and security support services

November 13, 2019

Herndon, VA – Akima today announced that Sunik, an Akima company, has been awarded a contract to provide base operating support for Marine Corps Base Quantico, Quantico, Virginia. This contract, awarded by the Department of the Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Washington, has a potential 8-year period of performance and a total contract value of $75 million if all options are exercised.

“The decisions made at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico impact Marines across the globe, both afloat and ashore, and in reserve duty throughout the United States,” said Scott Rauer, President of Akima’s Facilities Solutions Group. “Quantico is aptly called the ‘Crossroads of the Marine Corps,’ and Akima is proud to support a command with such a long and distinguished history. This award exemplifies the confidence our customers have in the Akima portfolio of companies to support our nation’s most important military facilities.”

In addition to supporting the overall base operations at Quantico, the contract includes support for the Marine Corps University, the Naval Health Clinic, the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Command, and the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Sunik will provide management and labor with expertise to support the base with facilities maintenance, service call work, repair, and security services.

Akima companies provide the United States Navy, Army, and Air Force with facilities and logistics programs that extend facility lifecycles, reduce downtime, and ensure operational readiness. In July 2019, Sunik was awarded a contract to provide operations and maintenance support services for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania.
